Topic: “Preserving Today for a Healthier Tomorrow”Goal:
To help dentists feel comfortable in their abilities to place large posterior restorations. The speaker feels strongly about putting off more invasive cosmetic procedures until later in a patient life especially because bonding procedures are such a conservative and esthetic alternative. Overview:This lecture is centered on “tooth structure preservation”. Really helping us look at what tooth structure is left and what can be done to preserve it. Breaking down what may appear as daunting procedures and putting them into simplified tasks. With adhesive chemistries of today, it is not outside the really of a general dentist to reconstruct a mouth with composite restorations. We will focus on what procedures need to occur in order for the restoration to last a long time. What can be done to maintain or repair if needed as well as what to do if contamination occurs during the placement of the bonded restoration? Helpful hints on making anterior composite restorations look more esthetic. Realizing that the more “invisible” they are the better. Keep in mind posterior esthetics. That it really actually does not take more time to do a esthetic posterior bonded composite using enamel shades as it does just using one shade. Last but certainly not least, helping those who feel there is no help for them. These are the patients you really remember. So much can be learned from these as well. What is possible, and how much of their life can we impact by helping them smile! Course Objectives:
